STRESS! – More than what you feel

STRESS! – More than what you feel

Stress.. we all have it.  Most of the time we relate stress to pressure situations and urgency. A job interview can be stressful, coming home to a messy home after a long day of work, juggling finances to pay bill, and a wide variety of events happen every day in our lives that stimulate “stress.” Unfortunately, that is not the only type of stress that we experience. Webster;s dictionary reports that “stress is a physical, chemical or emotional factor that causes bodily or mental tension and may become a factor in disease causation.”

Therefore, in order to give our body the best chance against “disease causation,” our goal should be to eliminate stress in as many areas as possible.  Budgeting our finances, planning our day, and communicating more effectively with our family is a great way to start, but it does not end there.  Structural stresses come in the form of spinal misalignment, weak muscles, poor bone quality, an under-functioning nervous system, and more.  Chemical stresses are more than drug and alcohol use, but also include tobacco, inflammatory foods such as gluten and casein, as well as pesticides, herbicides, gasoline fumes, plastics, and more.

In home, and at practice, I help people reduce their stress by strengthening their daily activities.  We rehabilitate the nervous system with quantum neurology rehabilitation, align the spine with chiropractic, encourage an anti-inflammatory diet, provide optimal nutrition through herbs and supplements, and council our patients through health promoting activities.

We can not avoid stress, but we can help our bodies to be more prepared for when it comes.  After all, stress is more than a pressure situation. Every decision we make, from the foods we consume, to our physical activities, and the way in which we react to our environment contributes to our level of “stress.”  When symptoms are not responding to the care that you are receiving, it is important to look for other factors that are contributing to your stress.  Contact our office to see how we can help your body de-stress!
