Gluten Free Shopping @ H-E-B

Gluten free diets (GFD) are more than the latest Hollywood craze.  As many of you know, I do not know how to cook very well, but luckily for me, my wife does [and she is really good at it]!  We do most of our gluten free shopping at H-E-B grocery stores in northwest Houston.  I frequently direct my patients to H-E-B’s gluten free items, and went digging for more information in regards to H-E-B for them.

H-E-B has a wide variety and selection of gluten free foods, but you may have to ask for directions to find the “gluten free section.” In addition to the health food section, H-E-B has also labeled other “normal” items throughout the store that follow GFD guidelines. The following pages are directly from H-E-B’s webpage, and it is a list of most of their gluten free items.  To make things easier, a lot (not all) of the gluten free items have this logo on the packaging when you are walking through the store:
